Starting your own website.

Obviously if you want a website of your own with words, pictures, music and video - you can do one like this on the space provided by your ISP. If your ISP doesn't provide you with space you can always try Googlepages. This site is done with FrontPage and although we can't use some FrontPage extensions. For example we can't use FrontPage for the counters they have to be on another server - you can learn it fairly quickly and make money from the adsense adverts. If you want to you can buy space - email me (mike10613) before you do that! I can tell you where to get a good deal! Googlepages will give you 100Mb of space and you can fill that with content. maybe up to 100 pages or more. If should get around 300 adsense adverts on and they are getting better using flash graphics and soon video too. It gives you a sense of acheivement and self esteem to design and publish a small website. If you make $100 for Christmas - that is a bonus. if you make over $100 a moth that is great. If you live an exciting life and have a camera to record your adventures - you could probably make a lot of money!

Traffic

People tend to be a little blind to advertising on websites - especially adsense. But I notice them! Why? I'm a publisher! People who publish or advertise notice them more and more and more people are having personal websites. So it's a good idea to join a web ring. You put a link on your site to this one and mine (Mike10613) and a few others and that brings bots and gets you listed on the search engines and brings traffic.

Viral marketing.

If you send jokes to your friends - why not put the address of your website as the signature on the emails? I did that and it brought me a couple of thousand visitors in 2 months! The jokes are forwarded on around the world and the address of your website with them!

Googlepages.

You can visit the site I have just started on Googlepages. It's http://England4U.Googlepages.com and be sure to read the tips on the webz page! Select a template for your site on their carefully. I would advise a site where the border is the same colour as the page. So have a go and give yourself or your family their 15 minutes of fame! lol Or promote your music or whatever you want to promote.  You can click the link to my site at the bottom of the page and get my email - email me if you need help or advice.
